Recently I've been working on improving my hand painted textures with a few WIP projects. This one is based on a concept by the wonderful @heikala_art who I recently discovered on Twitter. I've just finished the model and think that the proportions look pretty good, aside from a few adjustments here and there. I love the sketchy, watercolor look that the concept communicates and will do my best to make the final textures look as much like the illustration as possible.
Part of a larger house that I made in Maya. Exploring the low poly art style, trying to see how much detail I need in a scene to make it interesting. Textured in PS and rendered in Sketchfab.
Lately I've been working on the art style to a game that my husband and I are creating together. A large part of the world is desert and I love the low poly look, hence the Unity screenshots below. I like this look, but I think I need to experiment a bit more with levels of realism to get an idea of what we really want. More to come!
Been working on painting "generic male #1" (I call him Mel for short) for the past day or two. Funny how the tilt of a head and the glint in the eyes can change the personality of a character.
Hand-painted textures are so much fun to work on! Firemote is working on a game characters right now and this is the face of a low low poly generic female model that will be part of a cast of evil military characters. She looks sweet right now... but just wait until she's hurling grenades in your direction. Around 2000 tris / Maya / Photoshop.
